A wine heritage to savour in Cyprus. A captivating heritage deeply embedded in vine-covered mountain slopes!
World-famous local wines such as (Xynisteri, Promara, Morocanella, Spurtiko, Maratheftiko, Giannoudi and the PDO certified Koumandaria are distinguished for their rich aromas and flavor. Native wine varieties grown on hardy, phylloxera-free Daktulosphaira vitifoliaevines, thriving on their own roots in rich volcanic and dry chalky soils, continue to gain recognition and prestige.
Cyprus wines are exported to more than 20 countries including United Kingdom, Greece, China and USA. During 2021 Cyprus wine exports marked a sharp increase (60%) compared to the previous year, reaching €1,5 mil approximately.
To this effect, the Trade Service, implements a comprehensive promotion strategy based on a National Action Plan for Cyprus Wines.
The National Action Plan includes actions such as:
- Sponsorships for private participation in Trade Fairs in Cyprus and abroad
- Participation with National Pavilion in International Trade Fairs and Exhibitions
- Generic advertising campaigns abroad.
- Organization of wine tasting and other events in important markets
- Assistance to Cyprus wine exporters and wineries through the Export Helpdesk Service to penetrate foreign markets
At the same time, the Ministry proceeded to the creation of a modern National Visual Identity for Cyprus Wine (Wine Branding), and it is expected that it’s horizontal application will add value to all actions related to the promotion of Cyprus Wine.
